  Findagrave.com Dorothy Latourette Hollowell Birth: 1897 Death: Jun. 29, 1961 Oregon City Clackamas County Oregon, USA Oregonian, July 2, 1961, p.21 DOROTHY HOLLOWELL OREGON CITY (Special)--Dorothy Latourette Hollowell, 64, descendent of Oregon pioneers, was buried Saturday in Mountain View Cemetery, Oregon City, following her death Thursday. She was the youngest daughter of DeWitt Clinton Latourette and Ellen Scott Latourette, and the granddaughter of John Tucker Scott and Lyman D.C. Latourette, who crossed the plains in 1940's. Mrs. Hollowell's father and his cousin, C.D. Latourette, founded the early First National Bank of Oregon City, where Mrs. Hollowell received her first business training. She worked with her husband, Homer E. Hollowell, up to a few weeks before her death, in an investment concern, another enterprise of her father. Harvey Scott, half-brother of Mrs. Hollowell's mother, was a nationally known historian and longtime lawyer and editor of The Oregonian. Abigail Scott Duniway and Catharine Scott Coburn, writers, teachers, and leaders in the suffragette movement, were half-sisters of Mrs. Hollowell's mother. Mrs. Hollowell's mother was a graduate of Pacific University, and later taught there. Earl C. Latourette, late justice of the Supreme Court of Oregon was a cousin. Another cousin is Clackamas County Commissioner Ed Latourette. Mrs. Hollowell's brother, Dr. Kenneth Scott Latourette, who assisted in conducting her memorial, is Sterling Professor emeritus at Yale University, and spends his summers writing in Oregon City. Mrs. Hollowell was a member of the Sorotimists and the Pioneer Atkinson Memorial Congregational Church. Her older son, H.E. Hollowell, Jr. is superintendent of the new Willamette Falls Community Hospital in Oregon City, soon to be dedicated, and her youngest son, Alan Hollowell, is assistant manager of the Bend branch, U.S. National Bank. There are four grandchildren.
