Jeannie Finch, email@example.com , July 2001. "Records found in DeWitt County Circuit Court dated November 1, 1866, stated he had domestic misfortunes and for a considerable period of time was in a state of intoxication and under the influence of spirituous liqor. Sometime during this period Jacob and Sarah separated and Jacob went to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Marcellus and Lucinda (Lucy) Sessions. Per the clairm, Marcellus talked Jacob into buying a tract of land and this was the dispute. Jacob and Sarah filed for divorce in November 1867 but the date when it was granted was not found. Jacob and Delilah Godberry were married October 9, 1869 in DeWitt County. No further records found on Sarah but she may have moved to Macon County with her children. Jacob and Sarah's daughter Caroline Schwantes and family moved to Cowley County, Kansas, in 1869, but I don't know when Jacob moved there. Sarah, Lewis, Malachi, Minor, and John Long moved to Greenwood County, Kansas in 1870. Jacob and Sarah had twelve children."
Some have said that she comes from Dutch Pennsylvania, but nothing has been confirmed. Per an article written by Ralph Aubrey Long, Jacob and Sarah had anoher son named Lemuel who died young. This same article states Sarah Defabaugh, who was of Pennsylvania dutch extraction was from Eastern Pennsylvania. Information from Jeannie (Laura Jean Long) Finch, July 2001.
