"Sometime in 1883, Alfred left Rockford and settled in Artesian, South Dakota. The 1887-88 Rockford City Directory lists Mrs. Frances Haime as dressmaker. In 1887 (August of that year) Agnes was born in Artesian, South dakota, while her parents were there visiting Alfred and son Charles. Even though he stuttered quite badly, Charles got to name Agnes Blomgren. Later evidence shows that Frances later remarried and moved to Peoria Illinois."
Alfred was appointed to Hose Co. #4 of the first organized East Rockford fire department in 1876. #1 First Ward Albert (Alfred) was forman.
Alfred lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from 1883-1930.
OBITUARY ALFRED J. HAIME RITES WILL BE HELD SATURDAY. Funeral services for Alfred J. Haime, 82, a former East State Street grocery merchant, who died suddenly Wednesday at the home of a brother Norbert Haime, 319 South 3rd Street, will be held Saturday morning. Rites at 8:30 am at the Fitzgerald undertakings parlors, will follow at 9 am by Church Services at St. James pro-Cathedral. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Haime has resided with his brother here for a year. Previously, his home was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota forty-seven years. He was born July 14, 1849 at East Lulworth, England and came to Rockford with his parents in 1857. Norbert Haime and another brother E.C. Haime of 702 North First Street, and a son Charles are the only immediate members of the family to survive. There are several nieces and nephews in Rockford.
