He died Friday, September 13,1985 at Moline Public Hospital. Bennie Havens was born in Browning, Mo. He married Elsie Karhoff in 1954 in Peoria. He was employed in the maintenance department of John Deere Plow & Planter Works, Moline, for 32 years, retiring in 1981. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Moline VFW Post 2153,East End Club, Center for Belgian Culture, National Rifle Association, and the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include the widow; a daughter Barbara Efflandt, Rock Island, three grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Hoergian, West Covina, Calif., and Iola Rehberg, Stockton, Calif.; and a brother, A.T. "Junior" Havens, San Diego. Bennie was the son of Andrew Thomas and Mable (Lee) Havens.
