MARINDA MAE HENTHORNE LONG: Marinda Mae Henthorne Long was born April 6, 1878, the daughter of Nathan G. and Sarah (Punneo) Henthorne, and departed this life, June 26, 1961, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 20 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred McKinney of Gallatin, Mo. Preceding her in death were an infant son, her husband, Harry Edward Long, a son, Walter Long, and daughters, Nellie Harris and Bertha Schneider. Surviving are four daughters and one son: Mable McKinney, Gallatin, Mo.; Hazel Frazier, Milan, Mo.; Mrs. Charles (Vera V.) Deeds, Unionville, Mo.; Gracie Barnett, Springfield, Mo.; and William E. Long of St. Joseph, Mo., two sisters, Nora Salsberry, Denver Colorado; and Erma Glidewell of Milan, 27 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, trusting always in her Savior. She was a kind and loving mother and wife; to know her was to love her, through all her illness she was patient, kind and loving. Services were held at the Schoene Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 1961; conducted by Rev. Jeremiah Wilcox. The song service was by Eva Braley and Arvilla Wilcox, with Mrs. Margaret Marr the organ accompanist. The bearers were David Barnett, James Harris Jr., Freddie Frazier, Billy Frazier, Lorin Deeds and Eddy Long. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. [Milan Standard. July 6, 1961]
