  EARNEST LEON HAVENS: E.L. HAVENS PASSED AWAY AT WADSWORTH Earnest Leon Havens, son of William Henry and Laura E. Long Havens, was born March 27,1888, at Cora, Missouri, and passed away at the Veterans Hospital, Wadsworth, Kansas, September 27,1950,at the age of 62 years, 5 months, and 27 days. On June 21,1919,he was united in marriage to Della Elizabeth Elliott, who preceded him in death, August 9,1934.To this union two children were born, a daughter who died in infancy and a son, Howard Wayne. On August 18,1937 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Leeper at Linneus, Missouri. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and one step daughter Alpha Dean Leeper, of the home, one son, Howard Wayne and a granddaughter, Wayna Lynne Havens of Osca, Illinois; his aged parents, Mr.and Mrs. W.H. Havens, of Browning; eight sisters and five brothers, Ethel Head, San Diego, Calif.; Olga Elliott, Browning; Leona Brown, Cora; Nellie Hubler and Annie Brown, Brookfield ;Hazel Jones, Browning; Eunice Swank, Kansas City; Wenona Burditt, Milan; Andrew T. of Stockton, Calif.; W.B., Hileman and Wilson of Browning; Phileman of Paris, Mo. Twenty four nieces and nephews. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He served his country in World War II with the 89th Division and saw active service overseas. He would not want the ones he loved to grieve for him today; We must not say that he is dead, for he is just away. Away up on a journey to a land thats bright and fair, and though we miss him We know he's happy there; And memories of him will bring New comfort every day. As we recall--He is not dead, He's just away. Services were held at the Christian Church, Saturday, September 30, conducted by Rev. Edgar Lippincott, pastor of the Church of God in Milan. Dee Lippincott, with Mrs. Edgar Lippincott at the piano, sang,Old Rugged Cross, Abide With Me and City of Gold. The bearers were American Legion men and the flower girls were nieces of Mr. Havens. Military services were held at the Knifong cemetery by the Claude Myers Post. Internment was made in the Knifong cemetery under the direction of Wade Funeral Service. In Appreciation We wish to thank each and every one for their help, kindness and sympathy in our recent bereavement. We especially thank the American Legion and the help at the grave.
