Beulah was said to have been adopted, per Harold M. Birket.
Per Elmer Nelson: BIRTH: An 1 week old baby found abandoned in a basket on a door step in Wichita, no clues as to who left her there, only a note pinned to her blanket, all it said was: Aurora Leigh. Aurora was taken to the Kansas Children's Home and Service League in Newton, Kansas. There, Aurora was examined and found acceptable for adoption. Aurora was passed over many times, only because her head looked to big for the rest of her body. Finally, when Aurora was close to 1 year old, Mr. and Mrs. William W. Birket, became her foster parents. They raised her as their own child, legally adopting her in 1934, as Beulah Aurora Birket.
