H Patty, in land formerly owned by Obed Patty dec'd. Obed and his wife Sarah, made a trip to Missouri and returned before 1840. His children that had moved there had told of how wonderful the new land was, and how great it was for farming. Obed built a wagon with a fake bottom, in which he hid most of his money, over $2000. He loaded up the wason, and he and his family set out for Missouri. But after seeing the new land, Obed did not believe it would produce as much as the farm he had left in Tennessee. He and Sarah missed their old farm place, and their grandchildren, so they loaded up the wagon and returned to Tennessee. After Obed's death, Sarah Howell Patty moved to Bradley County, Tennessee to live with her son Benjamin.
