Note: Born around 1782, Catherine "Caty" Cline is believed to be the first of ten children born to Valentine Cline and Gertrude Cansler. Around the year 1799, she married Peter Lineberger, Jr., son of Peter Lineberger (1742-1802) and his first wife, name unknown. Young Peter's grandfather was Johannes Lienberger, who arrived in Philadelphia aboard the ship Brothers, on 16 September 1751. Johannes was in North Carolina by March 1764, when he purchased 200 acres on Hoyles Creek. Caty and Peter were parents of Susannah Lineberger, born 9 March 1800, in Lincoln County, North Carolina. Peter Lineberger died within two years of Susannah's birth, and Caty quickly remarried. Her new husband was Nicholas Miller. In the will of Peter Lineberger, Sr., dated 19 November 1802, Caty Miller, the widow of his son Peter, is provided for. Caty's new husband may have been the Nicholas Miller, born around 1776 to Martin Miller (CA 1740-1825) and Sophia Rintleman (CA 1750-1817). This Nicholas had an older sister, Katherine Miller, who was married to John Lineberger, brother of Peter Lineberger, Jr.. Caty and Nicholas left Lincoln County sometime after the 1820 census.
