a. Note:   p on a farm near Kenner Chapel, a few miles northwest of Rudy, Crawford County, AR. Her father died when she was about 10. With a large family to feed, on a small 80 acre farm, day-to-day living was a chore for the widow and the children. Having milk cows and other livestock helped. The children didn't get much formal education because of working the farm and working at other farms. Lydia married a widower with three children. She later bore one child of her own. She was a housewife, sometimes working, during the depression, as a day laborer, picking farm produce. During the war years she worked at a furniture factory. Later she worked as a domestic cleaning woman with a steady clientele. She lived in Rudy, Van Buren, Fort Smith, Alma and finally a few hundred feet from Arkansas, at Arkoma, OK. She cared deeply for her family and was very close to her sisters and brothers.
<b>Obituary: Lydia A, Bowlin</b>, 86, of Arkoma died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1993, in a local hospital. The widow of Elmer Bowlin, she was a homemaker and a member of Arkoma Assembly of God. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Oct. 1 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery. She is survived by a son, Clifford of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sisters, Frances Bowlin and Helen Porter, both of Fort Smith, and Dicie DelRio of Sparks, Nev.; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Willie Coleman, Bobby Bowlin, Bernis and Jimmy Rogers, Charles and Gary Hickerson and Alvie Crossland. Memorial contributions may be made to Stepping Stone School, P.O. Box 2389, Alma, Ark. 72921.
