a. Note:   Arthur Ranly Arthur E. Ranly, 78, Ohio 119, Maria Stein, died at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 16, 2003, at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home, Coldwater. He was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Cassella, to Peter and Sophia Speck Ranly. On April 29, 1950, he married Eileen Link who survives. Also surviving are six sons, John (Janice) of Cassella, Jeffery (Barbara) of Riverside, Joel (Sherri) of St. Henry, Martin (Carol) of Richland, Mich., Matthew (Beth) of Minster, and Jason (Becky) of Maria Stein; and three daughters, Kathleen (Leon) Homan, New Bremen, Peg (Steve) Hirsch, Massillon, and Lisa (Terry) Moeller, Cassella. Other survivors include four brothers, Paul (Marie) of Minster, Orville (Alma) of Philothea, the Rev. Ernest of Lima, Peru, and Donald (Joan) of Columbia, Mo.; four sisters, Sister Theresa Joseph of Cincinnati, Lucille (Ben) Droesch and Ella Mae (Ralph) Liette, all of Chickasaw, and Rita (Ray) Flaute, Cassella; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Obringer, Coldwater; 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Deceased are two daughters, Kristina and Lora; four brothers and three sisters. He retired as editor and publisher of the Mercer County Chronicle and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, the Men?s Sodality and the Catholic Knights of America, all of Cassella, charter president of the Coldwater Kiwanis Club, a former national board member of the Catholic Knights of America, past commander and a firing squad member of Maria Stein American Legion Post 571 and past commander of the Second District American Legion. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Ernest Ranly officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with the Legion conducting military rites. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
