Title: 1816 Chortitza Colony Census (October, 1816)
Note: He migrated from Prussia to Kronsweide, Chortitza, S. Russia in 1789 (P. Rempel, p. 24). In the 1795 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Kronsweide #25 as a widower (B. H. Unruh, p. 243). By 1797 he moved to Schoenwiese where he took over the home of Julius Ewert, likely at the time of his marriage to Julius Ewert's widow Aganetha Goertzen (B. H. Unruh, p. 253), and where he is listed in the 1797 Census (P. Rempel, p. 50). In the 1801 Census he is listed at Schoenwiese #3 and he is also listed in Schoenwiese in the 1806 Census (P. Rempel, p. 50). In the Oct 1816 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Insel Chortitza #12 where his family's 1814 Census data is given. It is unclear whether Aganetha Goertzen was the mother of his son Peter who was born ca 1799 or whether Anna _____ was Peter's mother.
