  In 1839 he moved from Chortitza, Chortitza Colony to Schoenfeld, Bergthal Colony where he was a laborer in 1852 per the 1852 List of People Living Outside the Chortitza Colony. However, In the 1850 Chortitza Colony Census he was listed at Chortitza #59 with his father Jacob Penner's family.
