Text:   Digitally photographed in 2005. This file contains among other items extractions from the 1835 Chortitza Colony Census (Revision List) for 22 families from the Chortitza Colony that expressed a desire to settle in the newly established village of Schoenthal, Bergthal Colony.
13. Title:   Tiegenhagen, Prussia. Mennonite Church Records

Notes
a. Note:   Alt DOB 28 Dec 1776 He was living in Holstein, Prussia at the time of his baptism in 1791. He migrated from Prussia to Neuenburg, Chortitza, S. Russia in 1796 (P. Rempel, p. 28). In the 1801 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Neuenburg #17 and in the 1802 Census at Neuenburg #19. In the Oct 1816 Census he is listed at Neuenburg #1. He apparently moved to Schoenthal, Bergthal Colony with the first settlers of that village about 1837 since he and his family are among a group of Mennonites who expressed a desire to settle in Schoenthal per Odessa Archive, Fond 6, Inventory 1, File 4889. The Bergthal Gemeinde Buch on p. A42 says he married Katarina Peters in 1790, which is likely incorrect.
