a. Note:   Johann and his family immigrated to Russia in 1789 (Unruh, 1955, p. 274). Johann lived at Burwalde, Chortitza, South Russia. He was among the first settlers to the Old Colony.
He was living in Neulanghorst, Prussia at the time of his baptism in 1792. He migrated from Walldorf, Grosswerder, Prussia to the Chortitza Colony, S. Russia in 1795 (B. H. Unruh, p. 274; P. Rempel, p. 4). In the 1801 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Rosenthal #31. In 1803 he moved to Burwalde (B. H. Unruh, p. 213) and is listed there in the 1806 Census (P. Rempel, p. 3). In the 1808 Census he is listed at Burwalde #5 (B. H. Unruh, p. 274) and was still residing there in 1809 per the 1809 Chortitza Colony Vaccination Lists.
