a. Note:   In 1817 he moved from Chortitza, Chortitza Colony to the city of Ekaterinoslav where he was a miller in 1852 per the 1852 List of People Living Outside the Chortitza Colony. In the 1850 Chortitza Colony Census he was listed at Chortitza #42 with his family, however. In 1852 he owned 2 treadmills, a vinegar brewery, and a home in Ekaterinoslav. He reportedly lived in Schoenau, Molotschna Colony at one time as well. Claassen and the diary of Jacob Niebuhr (b. 4 May 1862) gives a death date of 28 Feb 1859.
