He was a greatly cherished husband, father, brother and friend. He left this world as he had lived, with courage, grace and dignity, with family by his side. Left to mourn his passing and to celebrate the gift of his life is Jean, his devoted wife of 35 years. His beloved children, Carole (Roger) and granddaughter Marlo; Randy (Linda) grandchildren Coraleah, Travis (Val), Kristy (Brian); great-grandchildren Dawson and Raven, and numerous other family members. He was predeceased by his mother Helena and father Jacob, first wife, Florence, of 28 years, his son Gordon and many of his brothers and sisters. Hank was born in Plum Coulee, MB. At the age of 19 Hank enlisted in the R.C.A.F. where he served in many parts of Canada and Europe, during his 32 years of service. He retired in 1976 with the rank Master Warrant Officer. In his earlier years Hank enjoyed playing baseball, camping, fishing and at the end of the day enjoyed a beer with friends. In later years he and Jean took great pleasure cruising with friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives were touched by his friendship. He was a true friend to all who knew him. The family would like to thank friends and family who provided support and inspiration during the last days of his life. A special thanks to George and Diane Gibson, your love and support has been unwavering; Rev. Beth Rutherford for all her spiritual support and friendship. Dr. Joshua and nursing staff on the 3rd floor south, at the Grace Hospital, their compassion and care was never ending. Funeral services will be held at Crestview United Church on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in memory of Hank, to a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn 885-9715 (Winnipeg Free Press: June 19, 2009)
