Note: MARY LEE FRIESEN (March 26, 1926-February 8, 2009) Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed into the Presence of her Saviour on Sunday, February 8, 2009. Mom was predeceased by her husband Victor, numerous brothers and sisters, and will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jerry (Anne), Jane (Rick), Wayne (Gayle) and James (Ruth); her sister Helen Goossen; grand-children, Dean (Alison), Kristin (Duane), Andrew (Bella), Marliese, Megan, Lauren and Karen; great-grandchildren, Owen and Zoe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Viewings will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A private family burial will take place thereafter. A memorial service will be held during the week of March 9 and a complete obituary will follow. The family would like to thank the staff of the fifth floor of the Grace General Hospital Home for their outstanding, tender, loving and wonderful care. MARY LEE (Braun) FRIESEN (March 26, 1926-February 8, 2009) was born to Peter and Katharina Braun on March 26, 1926, in Altona. She was one of 12 children, consisting of seven sisters (Anna, Aganeta, Evelyn, Katarina, Susana, Sara, and Helen), and four brothers (Ed, Peter, Abram, and Jacob). Mary married Victor Friesen on August 14, 1949, and lived in Regina and Winnipeg. Mary was predeceased by her husband in September 2002, and will be lovingly remembered by her children Jerry (Anne), Jane (Rick), Wayne (Gayle), and James (Ruth); her sister Helen Goossen; grandchildren Dean (Alison), Kristin (Duane), Andrew (Bella), Marliese, Megan, Lauren, and Karen, great-grandchildren Owen and Zoe, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Mary accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour on her 10th birthday, and lived a life that proved her salvation. Mary attended Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church from its inception in 1963 until shortly after her husband's death, at which time she transferred her membership to Westwood Community Church. Mary was interred at a private family burial on February 13. Pallbearers included her son-in law Rick Weitzel, her grandson Dean Weitzel, her nephews Greg Braun and David Friesen, her niece Sandy's husband Wayne Pauls, and her son Wayne Friesen. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2009 at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. A luncheon will follow the service. The family would like to thank the staff of the fifth floor of the Grace General Hospital for their outstanding, tender, loving, and wonderful care. Mary Lee (Braun) Friesen, 82, of Winnipeg passed away Sunday, February 8th at Grace Hospital. She is survived by 1 daughter, 3 sons and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Victor.
