Notes
a. Note:   N2 Joseph Swett was drowned near his home in Truro 29 November 1716 with an Indian and four other Englishmen going from Eastham harbor to Billingsgate. [George Thomas Little, Genealogical and Family History of the State of Maine, 1909]
Little says the Joseph Swett who drowned 29 November 1716 was born 26 October 1658, son of Joseph Swett and grandson of John Swett of Newbury, but that Joseph Swett died aboard the Royal Navy Ship HMS Defiant in 1695. Stackpole says the Joseph Swett who drowned 29 November 1716 probably was the son of John Sweat of Eastham, and this is supported by the statement that Benjamin was "now the oldest son" at division of John Sweat's estate in 1721.
