a. Note:   N6753 --Other FieldsRIN: 5342The following was sent by Frank Fulgham, a descendent of Pierce,by email 3/21/2002.Pierce married Minnie Lee Howard in Birmingham, Alabama sometimebefore 1910. In 1910, their only child, my father, Jesse J.Fulghum was born. Pierce and Minnie divorced about 2 yearslater (about 1912). On Dec. 8, 1913, Pierce was gunshot during adispute at a gambling hall in Birmingham. He died 3 days lateron Dec.11. His death certificate lists his occupation as apainter.His Father and mother are listed as R. Fulghum and P.Fulghum, respectively. A verbal account of his homicide is asfollows: At a gambling hall in Birmingham, Pierce becameinvolved in an arguement with another man who had madean untrue accusation about his honesty.A struggle ensued.Duringthe struggle, the adversary drew a pistol. Pierce wrested itaway from him and tossed it to another man observing thealtercation.This observer who happened to be the gun owner'sbest friend promptly tossed it back to Pierce's foe who shotPierce in the abdomen. The account of this incident is recordedin the Birmingham News' Dec. 14, 1913 edition (give or take aday).
