  Bryant Manning was born about 1810 in North Carolina, the son of John Manning and Elizabeth M anning. Bryant Manning?s first wife, I belie ve, was Lydia Bowen. They were married about 1 830 in Pitt County, No rth Carolina. Their children were Mary Ann Manning, Rachel Elizabeth M anning, Henry Manning, Sidney Manning, John Manning, Malissa Manning , Jane Manning, Lafayett e Manning, Little B Manning, and Lucinda Mann ing. Bryant Manning?s wife, Lydia Bowen Manning , mother of his childr en, died in 1850. He then married Betsy Collier on August 8, 1850 i n Lowndes County, Alabama and they lived there when the 1850 census was taken. Lowndes County , Alabama was created in 1830 from parts of Butler, Dallas and Montgomery Counties. The coun ty seat was Haynevil le, Alabama and surrounding counties were Autauga, Crenshaw and Wilco x .
