  The following is from a conversation with Nettie Majors Parker
  Mary Frances had an argument with her mother on one Sunday and stayed home from church. Mar y Frances was so angry with her mother she said that if her Daddy [Samuel Till] were to com e home from the war while her mother was at church she [Mary Frances] would not come get he r mo ther. But "Sammy" did come home that Sunday and Mary Frances tore out for the church, an d Elizabeth came running home "with her skirts a fl yin'".
  The following is from the Confederate War Records at the Nationa Archi ves
  Samuel W. Till enlisted as a Private in Co A, 13th Alabama Infantry Re giment on either 15 Ma r 1863 or 10 Apr 1863, at Camp Matt, Notasulga , AL, by Maj Swanton, for the period of the war .
  His name appears on a Register of Receiving and Wayside Hospital (or G eneral Hospital #9), Ri chmond, VA - admitted 31 Jul 1863. From here h e was apparently sent on to General Hospital, H owards Grove, Richmond , VA as he was admitted there on 5 Aug 1863, diagnosed as having chron i c hepatitus. Returned to duty 23 Nov 1863.
  He again entered a hospital, this time in Stauton, VA, and is listed a s being there on 10 Ja n 1864 and 24 Feb 1864 with diarrhea. In the re marks section it states, "S.W. Till is Improvi ng."
  His name appears on a Receipt of Clothing, dated 31 Dec 1864.

  Pension application for second wife Callie C. Till, stated he enliste d March 18, 1863 at Nota sulga, died August 22, 1888 and was discharge d April 17, 1865. She was born Covington Georgia , Sumter County June 15, 1837, she is 77 years old and lives in Butler County. Her father i s Cornelious D. Shell who died in Butler county in June 1888. She wa s married in Butler Count y never married before and moved to Alabama when a child.
