Frank E. Manatt, 77, of Marion, a former resident of Laurens died in a Mount Pleasant hosipital, Feb. 24.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. L. H. Andre of Marshalltown and Mrs. Grace Ruebel of Cedar Rapids; one son, Russell of Cedar Rapids.
The Manatts made their home in Laurens in the early part of 1900 and while here they farmed, later operating a restaurant and then a variety store. They moved to Cedar Rapids about 1917 where they lived until a few years ago when they bought an acreage at Marion.
Gladys Freddie and Frankie and an infant son, children of the Manatts, are buried in the Laurens cemetery and another daughter, Frances, died in Cedar Rapids some time ago.

Frank E. Manatt, a resident of Marion at 1076 Fifth street, the past five years, died Thursday in Cedar Rapids. He was born in Brooklyn, September 10, 1865. On March 5, 1887, he was married to Miss Lucretia Walker at Cornsforth. Their first home was on a farm near Ladora. Three years later they moved to Laurens, their home for 24 years. Before coming to Marion, they lived in Cedar Rapids. Surviving besides his wife are three children, a son, Russell, and a daughter, Mrs. Grace Ruebel, both of Cedar Rapids, and another daughter, Mrs. Lee Andre, of Marshalltown. There are seven grandchildren, four brothers, two sisters and numerous other relatives. The deceased was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon frm a Cedar Rapids chapel with Rev. C. V. R. De Jong, pastor of the Marion Presbyterian church in charge. Burial was made in Cedar Memorial Park.
