  **Notes - Chandler Carter Walker was a brickmaker and mason. Iowa County Historical Society Cemetery records show where the following dates of birth and death appear on stones in the Ladora Cemetery of Sumner Township, one mile south of the village of Ladora, Iowa. Carter C. Walker, born 1830, died 1919 Matilda D. Walker, born 1842, died 1918
  (It is believed that Carter C. is, in fact, Chandler Carter Walker and Matilda D. is, in fact, Mary Matilda Davis, his wife).
  The Census for 1900 in Hartford Township, town of Ladora, indicates six children born to Chandler and Matild Walker, with five presently living. The 1910 Census show four children living.

  Ladora
  Carter Chandler Walker was born in Canada Feb. 10, 1830 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. E. Mannatt in Cedar Rapids, Saturday, Oct. 18, 1919. When a young man he moved to the states settling in Illinois and a few years later was married to Miss Mary Matildee Davis with whom he lived almost sixty years and who preceeded him to the better world eleven months ago. In 1860, he moved to Grinnell, Iowa, where he engaged in the manufacture of brick and followed his trade of brick layer. Six children were born to them, of whom four are still living, Mrs. F. E. Manatt and Mrs. C. W. Kohl, of Cedar Rapids, Fred of Long Beach, California, and H. C. of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Tho two daughters and their families were in attendance at the funeral, also Mrs. Imo Clark and mother, Mrs. Manatt and other friends from Carnforth. Mr. and Mrs. Walker were residents of Ladora at one time and had many friends who mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the Ladora M.E. church conducted by Rev. Rudkin and the remains were laid to rest in Ladora cemetery.
