Marion T. Mershon
HARRODSBURG - Marion Thomas Mershon, 85, of VanArsdall Drive, died Friday at the VA Hospital in Lexington.
Born Oct. 5, 1920, in Salvisa, he was the son of the late Willie K. and Nannie Oran Mershon. He was a retired farmer and employee of Southern States. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He served as a deacon at Salvisa Christian Church. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 6935.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie M. Mershon; a son, Arnold T. Mershon; three grandsons, Marion T. Mershon, Robert L. Mershon, and Michael W. Darland; and six great-grandchildren. He was prededed in death by a daughter, Alice F. Roach.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Revs. Vicki L.. Ray and William Mounts. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery in Lawrenceburg with military rites.
Pallbearers will be Gene Hebrock, Michah Waddell, Larry Stopher, Bill Stephens, Franklin Simpson and Tupper Hardman.
Honorary pallbearers are George O. Moore, Francis Simpson, Howard Howells, Jack Springate and Arthur Simpson II.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and Monday prior to service.
Memorials may go to Salvisa Christian Church, Mercer County Senior Citizens or VFW Auxiliary.
