a. Note:   According to a comment by Gerald Cohail posted to my tree on Ancestry.com on 25 January 2013: John "M" Barry was the son of William H S Barry and Mary C Gilkerson. On 12 Jun 1851, Mary Gilkerson married her second husband, Francis Petty (a.k.a. Pettay). [Source: Ohio, County Marriages, 1790-1950 at FamilySearch.org -- Bride: Mary Barry. Groom: Francis Petty]. According to the 1860 census John "M" Berry was living with his mother Mary and Francis Petty. On 8 Aug 1862, then 16-year-old John "M" Barry "of Noble County" enlisted in Company D, 92nd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. On 10 Sep 1862, he enlisted in Company E, 92nd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. On 24 Aug 1863 he died from acute dysentery in Gallatin, Tennessee.
