Note: Emeline Miner's death record is in Montcalm Co. which list her parents as Fred and Margaret Herring. She was listed as a widow and place of death is listed as "Pottsville" (there is a Potterville in Eaton Co. - could this be what was referred to as Pottsville?). There is an Emma Miner, age 22, born in New York, in the 1880 census of Hudson, Mich. She was living with her husband, Irven Miner and their daughter, Florence, born in Jan 1880. It is quite certain this is our Emma because there was an Irving W. Miner who died on 13 Aug 1883 at Stanton, Mich. His occupation was listed as a machinist. Also, one Florence Miner was working as a domestic in Stanton when she married in 1895. She married one Harry A. Clark, son of L. Clark and Julia Tappan. One Leland W. Clark was born on 24 May 1898 in Mecosta Co., Mich., with parents listed as Harry A. Clark and Florence E. Miner. However, it turns out that Leland W. Clark is also known as Leland C. Weaks. Leland was living in Eaton Co. in 1910 with his "mother" Julia Weaks. In 1900 Julia and her husband, Marion, were living in Eaton Co., and she is listed as having had one child but there were no children living with them at the time. Leland Weaks married and lived in Barry Co., Mich., and where he raised a family. What is the story with Clark/Leland Weaks and his parentage??
