Note: Margaret was born in France and because her two older siblings were born in Strasbourg that is assumed to be where Margaret was born. There is a marriage record for Margaret Peters and Godfrey Harrig dated 30 Oct 1851 at St. Peter's Church, Verona Mills, N.Y. (Margaret's youngest sister, Mary Peters, was married in the same church in 1854 to Frederick's younger brother, Philip Herrig). The 1855 census of Verona, Oneida Co., shows Godfrey living with Margaret and 2 children: Susan A. Herrig, age 2, and Sally A. Herrig, age one (both born in Oneida Co.). Also living with them was Godfrey's mother, Saloma. Margaret and Frederick were living in Lewis Co., N.Y., in 1860, and by June 1870 they were in Wayne Co., N.Y., where their 3 oldest children (Amanda, Anna, and George) were working in a fruit factory. They moved to Michigan in 1871 and are the 1880 and 1884 census of Sidney Twp., Montcalm Co. Margaret died at the home of her daughter, Anna, and her death notice referred to her as "Elizabeth Harring" and that "her remains were taken to Greenville for interment". Margaret was buried in Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville, Mich. For photos of Margaret see photo album. - T. Adams
