Note: Was possibly set up in the insurance business by his father &Leslie Combs. Some believe his failure to pay taxes was notintentionally criminal, just typical of his alcoholic failure toattend to business in a timely fashion.
Note: Did serve time for tax-evasion. Was in a white-collar prisonwhere, without access to booze, he was said to have spent someof the happiest days of his life editing the prison newspaper.
Note: Much local speculation that his Lundy son-in-law's path toCalumet's bankruptcy (for which Lundy served time) was in partwillful, due to distructive emotions, or else just an uncaringattitude encouraged by Jr.'s children's angst toward theirgrandmother. Others have speculated the cause of the meltdownwas only arrogance, ignorance/stupidity, &/or greed withpossibly drugs thrown in. Question of where all that semingly ponzi-type stud fee moneyreally went fuels much speculation, esp. as to whether partstill stashed somewhere. Probably no one will ever know thereal story. --AGP
