Note: Jo Evelyn was a kind woman whom I got to know better after theBooker family moved into what had been the Witt home, next doorto "my house," really where Mother & I had an upstairsapartment in a two story home my grandmother owned. Jo Evelynws a good housekeeper and a good cook as well. She took usstrawberry picking, taught my mother how to put up strawberriesin a freezer (new technology), and even loaned us the freezerspace since all we had was in the refrigerator with only roomfor 2 ice trays and a box or two of BirdsEye frozen food. The"Witt Place" was between my house on West Cedar (then numberd"311" but changed now) and Booker Funeral Home. I'm not surewhere she & Harry & children had lived before that. Dr. Witt &his family had built a new home on the back of their property, facing the next street over.Jo Evelyn was a hard worker and a good woman but not necessarilya happy one according to conversations Mother reported she wassurprised to have had. Mother said she thought JE was lonely &maybe bored. I guess Harry was away from home a lot and JoEvelyn worried about her children, too, esp. her oldest. --AGP
