    Prominent Man Died Last Night

    Daniel Webster Spidel, Prominent Resident of Greenville and Well Known Implement Dealer Passed Away Last Evening at 6:10 O'clock Following An Operation For Appendicitis.

    Daniel Webster Spidel, prominent resident of Greenville and well known and highly respected implement dealer and livery stable owner passed away last evening at 6:10 o'clock.

    Mr. Spidel who was 64 years, 8 months and 15 days of age was operated upon at the City Hospital about three weeks ago for appendicitis. Complications set in and although he made a wonderful fight for life the burden was too much for him. The deceased man was born on August 22, 1860, in Franklin Twp., in the neighborhood of Painter Creek and in December 1889 was joined in marriage to Miss Jennie Stoltz of Gettysburg and has lived a happy and successful married life for 36 years.

    In September 1897, Mr. Spidel and his wife moved to Greenville and he has been engaged in business here ever since. Mr. Spidel was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gettysburg and belonged to the Greenville Chapter and Council and was a Knight Templar being a member of the Coleman Commander at Troy, Ohio, and he was also a member of the Scotttish Rite and Shrine of Dayton, Ohio.

    He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved wife, two sisters, Mrs. John Grise of Gettysburg and Mrs. Sarah Warrick of Greenville, two brothers, John and Jacob Spidel of this city, besides a multitude of friends, who truly loved him.

    Scottish Rite Ring Services will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Greenville on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. C. L. Plymate officiating. The interment will be held in the Gettysburg Cemetery, the Masonic Lodge of Gettysburg will have complete charge of all burial sevices at the cemetery.
