Deacon Thomas Youngs lived on the farm at Aquebogue near Riverhead, untilt he death of his father in 1793, when he reoved to the farm at Sterling. He was a deacon of the church at Aquebogue, and seven of his children were baptized there. He bought out his brothers' interest in the farm at Sterling and so possessed the entire tract and spent the remainder of his life there. His wife, Lydia, daughter of John and Abigail (Lambert) Tuthill, inherited fro her father a farm at Oysterponds, which Thomas exchanged with his brother John for his share in the Sterling farm. In 1775, he signed to support Congress. His will, June 8, 1814, proved March 15, 1816, names his wife and eight children, and leaves his estate to them, and the farm, which had remained intact through five generations was divided up, and in 1822 was owned by eight of his dexcendants and six others.
