Born in Surrey Co, Va. (or Prince George Co). He was probably the youngest of his mother?s children.

1743 he witnessed a deed in Brunswick Co, Va. So evidently he was of age then. He must have just turned 21. He had left the state (prob going to NC), leaving his wife and children behind, but they joined him probably by 1746.

1749 he was in Bladen Co, NC where in 1754 he received a grant of 200 acres on the NE side of the Deep River. In 1758 he sold his 200 acres on both sides of the Deep River to Zachariah Green (Aug 29, 1758). He signed both deeds.

1752 he was in a court case in Orange Co, NC. Also in 1765 he was sued by Nathaniel Edwards.
1754 - ?History of Moore Co, NC? p194 ?Permanent 18th Century Settlers? says that Howell (Dutchman) Brewer was at Deep River in 1754. Geroge Brewer was there by 1777 and Ambrose Brewer by 1787.

    1755 Orange Co, North Carolina:
    Henry Brewer 3-0
    Howel Brewer 1-0

1764 - his son Isaac says he was born in Wilkes Co, GA in 1764 but that his father, Howell was from NC. He said the family moved to Bedford Co, VA when Isaac was 4-5 years old. That would be 1768-69.

1768 he and his brother Nicholas protested the high recording fees in a petition to the Governor.

1772 he was in the Chatham County Militia under Capt. Joab Brook
s Co. A Role of Captain Isaiah Hogan's Company at a Muster Sept 19th 1772 included Henry Brewer [He is not on the DAR Patriot Index, however]

Roster Of Capt. Joab Brook's Company, Chatham County, North
    Carolina Militia 1772 :
    William Brewer
    Howel Brewer
Chatham (NC) Regimental Return made Sept. 23, 1772 -

A petition signed in Randolph Co, N.C. in 1785 had several Brewers on it:
    Nimrod Brewer
    Howell Brewer, Sr.
    Howell Brewer
    Isaac Brewer
    Reuben Brewer
Their complaint was that they lived at a large distance from the courthouse which was then located in the NE corner of the county.

1788 - his son Isaac stated on his pension papers that he father moved to Chatham Co, NC when Isaac was 25-26. That would have been 1788-89.

The lists of his children vary greatly, and so this list is not to be considered accurate! There is not even a consensus on which wife he married first.
