In the book "American Architecture: A History" (2003, by L.M. Roth) is this quote about the Fairbanks house (page 50):
"By the latter half of the seventeenth century the Massachusetts Bay colonists had developed a unique house type, based on the traditional heavy hewn or sawn frame construction of English houses, but adapted to the New England climate. The oldest surviving example in New England is the core of the Jonathan Fairbanks (Fayerbankes) house, in Dedham, Massachusetts, erected in about 1637-38, but added to several times later so that the original unit is obscured."

He signed the Dedham Covenant in 1636. See:

Below is a quote from the above link:
Jonathan Fairbanks had "long stood off from the church upon some scruples about public profession of faith and the covenant, yet after divers loving conferences..., [In 1646] he made such a declaration of his faith and conversion to God and profession of subjection to the ordinances of Christ in the church that he was readily and gladly received by the whole church." Fairbanks became a member of the First Church in Dedham, which espoused a Reformed theology (Calvinist) in the seventeenth century.
