    Frederick LEDER I (Leathers) was born about 1691 in Switzerland (Sumiswald, Bern) OR possibly Germany (Rheinland-Pfalz, Bavaria).

    He & Anna Elizabeth emigrated to the United States in 1728, arriving on the Mortonhouse, Aug 23, 1728 (the same ship as Ulrich Schurch, great-grandfather of Barbara Shirk, wife of their grandson, Fred III).
    "On August 24th 1728 eighty Palatines with their families, about 200 persons, imported in the ship Mortenhouse, John Coultas, Master, last from Deal, whence the ship sailed June 15. The list totaled 205 persons, including 80 males above 16 years of age, 69 women, and 56 children. Among the 80 males were, Frederick Leeder, Groug Bechtell, Wi Shurch, Martin Schaub and Ury Schurch. This was the sixth ship to land European immigrants in Philadelphia during the period from 1727 to 1776." [History of Fairfield County, by Miller about 1912]

    Frederick is among the earliest settlers in Kreutz Valley and also among the earliest provisional settlers of York County (before it was established).
    In 1736 Frederick bought 250 acres on the west side of the Sesquehannah River. (Some of the deeds & records show his wife as "Agnes")
    York Co, Pa Deeds, page 21 - "...30 Oct 1736 granted to Frederick Lather 250 acres on the west side of Susquehanah River. said Frederick Lather died and Agnes Lather his widow and Administratix of deceased Frederick Lather 13 Sept 1746 [sold] to Nicholas Ob Oct 18, 1748... on the westside of Codorus Creek in Manchester twp....which Nicholas Ob erected a saw mill..."
    Page 42 - Agnes sold to Nicholas Ob in 1748 "150 acres house, gardens, orchards, saw mill & her utensils, woods, underwoods, timber & trees, ways, waters, water courses, mill, dams, mill races."
    Page 63 - June 1757 - "... 30 Oct 1736 to Frederick Lather situated on the westside of Codorus Creek adjoyning Charles Jonse's containing 250 acres - Agnes Lather widow administratrix of said Fredrick sold said land unto Nicholas Ob..."

    He died 1746 (age 55), Dover township, York Co, Pa. His children were in Orphan's Court in Lancaster Co, Pa. June 6, 1749. The record lists his wife and 3 children.
