Her daug Beulah said on her brother, Nathan?s death certificate that their mother was born in Texas.

"Nancy Jolliff was born July 9, 1853 in Oregon Co, Mo, and died Sept 23, 1920. the subject of this sketch was born, reared and died in Oregon County. She was married to J.G. Jolliff Oct. 14, 1869, and to thie union was born ten children, eight of whom survive . . .
"Sister Nancy Jolliff was of pioneer stock and connected with some of the most noted families of Oregon County. She professed hope in Christ forty years ago and has lived a devoted life and has been a model member of the Methodist church for a number of years and the church had no stronger advocate of its tennets than she. I was personally acquainted with the deceased and in all the relations of life whether in storm or sunshine, she was every day the same unobstrusive, unassuming stable and peaceable Nancy Jolliff with a smile of love and kind words for all, sharp corner for none. She had a level head and was a woman of strong character and never made known to the world her ever change of sentiment, thought and feeling, but gave to her husband and loving children and friends the finished result of her honest deliverations, consequently she was very guarded in her words and actions and never meddled in the affairs of others, but lived to the Golden Rule. She was never involved in strife and litigation, but lived in perfect peace and harmony with all. she was a beacon light of morality, sobriety and peace within the sphere of her associations and influence. She was a woman of strong conviction, consequently her Christian life and devotions were a wonderful influence and that influence was earnestly exerted in the interest of justice and right, the deceased passed through life from the cradle to the grave in this vicinity and passed through the train of bitterness and devastations that belong with life without invoking the ill will of anyone. Of her last words to her husband and loving children were, 'meet me in heaven.' She bore her suffering with patience and all was done that loving hands and hearts could do for this once loving and noble mother God's will be done. She was a faithful companion and a loving faithful mother and the noble impulse of her heart which prompted all her efforts and guided every action all her life was not fully known by the world, but death has removed the coil of clay that enveloped her soul and hid from the finite vision of men the outlines of her worth, goodness and splendor. But all is revealed in heaven and her reward is a crown of righteousness and a palm of victory. As flashes a diamond in a mountain of light, so flashes that crown in the light and throughout realms of eternal bliss...
