"Gillette & Willard win trip to Los Angelies, Calif -
Lewis Gillette and Le Roy Willard of the Gillette and Willard Company, local representives of the Farmers Insurance Group, have just been notified by the organization that they are winners of an all-expense-paid trip as delegates to the 5-day Jubilee convention to be held in Los Angeles, April 5 through 9.
The insurance organization is taking its highest-producing sales representatives to the home office in Los Angeles for Jubilee celebration, honoring the 20th anniversary of the founding of the company.
Gillette and Willard, in qualifying as delegates from this community will join approximately one thousand other representatives from all states west of the Mississippi at the convention sessions.
The two young agents from West Plains plan to make the trip to the convention by automobile and will leave here in time to visit relatives and friends in Oregon and to make a sight-seeing trip into Southwestern Canada before going down the coast to Los Angeles for the convention.
Gillette is a son of Mrs. Gillette, who at present lives on a farm two miles northwest of West Plains, and was engaged in the real estate business with his father prior to the latter's death a few years ago. Willard is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Willard, his father being a well-known livestock dealer."

Funeral services for Lee Roy Willard, 78, West Plains, will be 11 a.m. Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.
Mr. Willard died 11:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2003, at National Health Care, West Plains. He was born Sept. 23, 1924, at Rover, the son of Perry and Eda Goodwin Willard.
On March 21, 1943, he was married at West Plains to Thelma Judd, who preceded him in death April 3, 1990. He later Married Julianna Warren.
Mr. Willard lived in Loves Park, Ill., and operated many businesses, the last one being House of Quality Furniture and Appliance. He also was active in politics, having served as an alderman in Loves Park for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Julianna Willard, Rover; two sons, Michael Willard and wife, Joyce, Rockford, Ill., and Terry Willard and wife, Diana, state of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Timonry Willard, Rockford, Nicole Willard, state of New York, and Christian Willard and Jonathon Willard, both of the state of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; five brothers, Archie Willard, Orville Willard, Clide Willard, Vern Willard and Ernie Willard; and four sisters, Leta Mae Willard, Add Lee Willard, Rachel Willard Woolery and Maymie Willard Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Health Care, West Plains, or the American Cancer Society.
Public viewing and visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Sunday until time of service.
Burial will be in Jolliff Cemetery, Oregon County, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of West Plains."
