André Claude Chevalier, born André Claude Baptiste Poiret, Chevalier de Brie, was born in Normandy, France, in 1720. In 1740, he arrived in New Orleans, an officer in the Louisiana Regiment. He later became ?Keeper of the King?s Storehouse? and Treasurer of the Illinois District of Upper Louisiana, first at Fort Kaskaskia, later (after its re-building beginning in 1755) at Fort de Chartres. He married Françoise LeKintreck in New Orleans on 27 May 1742; after her death in 1757, he married(2) Marie Magdeleine Loisel at Fort de Chartres on 31 Jul 1758. There were children from each of these two marriages. André died at Fort de Chartres on 2 Apr 1759, and was buried in Saint Anne?s Parish Cemetery on 3 Apr 1759.

The forts were on the Mississippi River near Cairo, Illinois. He married Francoise Le Kintreck. [Francoise was born at New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Jean Joseph Le Kintreck.] Andre Claude Baptiste Poiret the Chevalier de Brie officer in the army of occupation during the early days of the French regime in Louisiana. He Andre was "Keeper of the King's Storehouse" at Fort Chartres and Fort Kaskaskia.
