    Obituary in Thief River Falls Times; 10 Nov 1938: ?Mrs. Caroline Wiken, long-time resident of Smiley township, passed away at her home Friday at the age of 74 years. Funeral rites were conducted Wednesday afternoon from St. Pauli church, Rev. M. L. Dahle of St. Hilaire officiating, and interment was made in St. Pauli cemetery. Mrs. Wiken was born August 5, 1864 in Vestre Toten, Norway. As a child she came with her parents from Norway to the United States in 1873, the family settling at Rushford. Later she moved to Grand Forks where she was married to Halvor Wiken on December 22, 1901. She and her husband then moved to Smiley township, where Mrs. Wiken has since made her home. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Torkelson of Thief River Falls; Mrs. Hans Haydal of Baker, Montana; a sister, Mrs. Dina Loberg of Minneapolis; and ten grandchildren. Her husband, two sons, a brother, and four sisters [preceded her in death].?
