    Thief River Falls - Rodney Bergerson, 61, died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at Riverview Nursing Home in Crookston.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 Bergerson Obit p.m. on Thursday, April 19, at St. Pauli Lutheran Church near Thief River Falls with Rev. Terri Cuppett officiating. Faye Auchenpaugh will be the organist, and Celeste Leach will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Keith Anderson, Bill Bergerson, Mike Bergerson, Mark Sinn, Danny Bergerson and Thomas Erlandson. Interment will be in St. Pauli Cemetery in Rocksbury township of Pennington county.

    Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 18) at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

    Rodney Simon Bergerson was born on November 29, 1939 at his family's home in Polk county, the son of Simon and Idella (Norberg) Bergerson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Gully. He attended elementary school in Gully and high school in Gonvick.

    On October 5, 1958, he was united in marriage to Sharon Evje at United Lutheran Church in Berner. The couple made their home in Gonvick. They lived in Duluth for five years and Bemidji for five years before moving to Thief River Falls in 1970. Since 1971, they had resided at their rural home south of Thief River Falls.

    Rod was a mechanic in Duluth and Thief River Falls and also drove truck for grain companies. In Bemidji, he drove truck and had his own repair shop. In 1970, Rod became the shop foreman at Falls Diesel in Thief River Falls. For many years, he worked off and on for the pipeline in Alaska. He also farmed during these years. In the lower 48 states, he worked as a master mechanic for the pipeline and had a tree trimming business.

    Rod was a member of St. Pauli Lutheran Church, Local 49ers Union, Local 302 of Seattle, Wash. and the Eagles Club in Thief River Falls.

    He enjoyed building and repairing things and especially spending time with his grandchildren and dog.

    Rod is survived by his wife; three daughters, Diane (Dave) Lee and Heidi (Rod) Sletten, both of Thief River Falls, and Joni (Lyle) Anderson of Grygla; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Vina (Lloyd) Anderson of Proctor and Shirley (Kenneth) Sinn of Warren; three brothers, Bud (Ann) of Barnum, Roger (Shirley) of Duluth and Dennis (Sharon) of Gonvick; and many nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents.
