Red Lake Falls - Paul "Bud" T. Borgie, 85, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Borgie, Paul photo 10:30 a.m. in St. Pauli Lutheran Church, in rural Thief River Falls, with Rev. Terri Cuppett officiating. Interment will be in the St. Pauli Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 27, at the Johnson Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Casket bearers included Robert Kraemer, Jeff Davidson, Eugene Borgie, Clayton Mathson, John Nyborg, Mark Nyborg.
Paul Theordore Borgie was born October 31, 1917, in Hazel, the son of Paul and Tillie (Hestekind) Borgie. The family moved to Fargo, when Paul was 7 years old, where he attended Jefferson Elementary School. He worked for 3 years for his father at the George Borgie Grocery Store. He worked 2 years at the Menasha Wooden Works, in Menasha, WI and then moved to Duluth. In 1941, he moved to California and spent 40 years as an Heavy Equipment Operator and Operating Engineer for the local 12. He lived in the San Fernando Valley.
On June 26, 1946, Paul was united in marriage to Daisey C. Coffey at Los Angelos, CA.
He moved to rural Thief River Falls in 1987, and lived there up until two years ago when he moved into the Sommerset residence.
Paul loved to dance; he would dance five nights a week. He also loved old time movies and the actors and actresses and their Hollywood lives. He also liked to garden and would prune his plants so that his place looked like Disneyland.
He is survived by one daughter, Anita Ruth (Sam) Bell, Nevada City, Calf.; one son, David Borgie, San Fernando Valley, CA; 6 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one brother, Axel Borgie, Fargo, ND. He is also survived by his dancing partner of 11 years, Hazel Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisey, his parents, two brothers, Perry and Bob, and a sister Grace.
