Name: Walter RODNEY , of Backwell, Sheriff
Birth: ABT 1487 in Backwell, Bedminster, Somerset, England
Sor Estate, Chaffcombe, Somerset:
She [Ela la Sor] conveyed the Sor estates in Somerset to Sir Richard de Rodney in 1306. Sir Richard was adjudged to be overlord of Chaffcombe in 1316 and the Rodneys again claimed the overlordship in 1498 as of their manor of Backwell. Their title was finally disallowed in 1600 in favour of the honor of Gloucester.

NOTE: I don't find any history of Backwell; however the above reference indicates that the Rodney family held Backwell (and presumably also overlordship of lands in Chaffcombe) in 1498.
