    Manor of Osterley, Heston, Middlesex:

By 1570 Sir Thomas Gresham already held a good deal of land in Heston, most of which was included in the manor or estate of OSTERLEY. In 1300 John of Osterley held 2 carucates in Isleworth and Heston, and about 1335 a man of the same name had lands in Heston worth 40s. In 1443 John Ford quitclaimed to John Somerset, physician to Henry VI and Chancellor of the Exchequer, all the lands called Osterley and all other lands in Heston and adjoining parishes which had formerly belonged to Thomas, son and heir of John Osterley. Somerset had acquired the lands from Richard Dunket and others: Ford's and Dunket's claims or titles to the lands are not explained.

    Manor of Osterley, Heston, Middlesex:

The name of Osterle, or Osterlee, first occurs in the reign of Edward I. when John de Orsterlee held two carucates of land in Isleworth and Heston. In the year 1443, John Ford of Iver, in the county of Bucks, released to John Somerset (Chancellor of the King's Exchequer,) and others, all right in the manor of Osterley, 15 messuages, and about 650 acres of land in Heston and Norwood, which had been formerly the property of Thomas, son and heir of John Osterley.

NOTE: See notes for wife Joan. I believe that the Thomas mentioned above was by a previous wife to Joan, as Joan's heir was her daughter Margaret, while John's was Thomas.
