JOHN [TUCHET] Lord Audley, son and heir, by 1st wife, who in consideration of his father's services, had a special livery of his lands [1459-60], without proof of age. He was taken prisoner at Calais next year, where he joined the party of Edward IV, with whom he was in great esteem. He was summoned to Parliament 26 May 1461 to 9 December 1483, the writs being directed to Johanni de Audley. Master of the King's Dogs, 5 July 1471, P.C. 1471, obtaining a grant of £100 a year, and being joint Commander of the army. He was sent into Brittany, 1475, and was one of the 35 peers at the Coronation of Richard III, who made him LORD TREASURER, 1484.
He married, before 1456, Anne, widow of John ROGERS, of Bryanston, Dorset, (who d Aug. 1450) daughter and coheir of Sir Thomas ECHINGHAM, probably by his 2nd wife, Margaret, daughter of John KNYVETT (senior). He died 26 September 1490. His widow died 7 May 1498, and was buried in Bermondsey monastery. [Complete Peerage I:341-2, transcribed by Dave Utzinger]
