THOMAS (DE CLIFFORD), LORD CLIFFORD, Sheriff of Westmorland, only son and heir, born 25 March 1414, being aged 7 years and 43 weeks at his father's death, making proof of his age 1435-36. He was summoned to Parliament from 19 December 1436 to 20 January 1452/3. In 1450-51 he was one of an Embassy to King James of Scotland.
He married, after his grandmother's death (b), March 1424, Joan, daughter of Thomas (DACRE), LORD DACRE (of Gillesland), by Philippe, daughter of Ralph (NEVILL), EARL OF WESTMORLAND. He was slain, ex parte Regis, at the first battle of St. Albans, 22 May 1455, aged 41, and was buried in the Abbey church there. [Complete Peerage III:293, transcribed by Dave Utzinger]
