  • Note: He [David Stewart] married, in February 1399/1400, at Bothwell Church, Marjory, 1st daughter of Archibald (DOUGLAS), EARL OF DOUGLAS, (called "The Grim"), by Joan, only child and heir of Maurice [MORAY], Earl of Strathearn [SCT]. He died v.p. and s.p. 26 March 1402, aged 24, in Falkland Castle, when under the custody of his uncle Robert, Duke of Albany, probably of dysentery, but not without suspicion of foul play, when his peerage dignities reverted to the Crown. He was buried in Lindores Abbey. His widow married in 1403 Sir Walter HALYBURTON, the younger of Dirletoun, and died in 1421, before 11 May. Walter died in 1447.
