    (h) Stapleton states that "the surname de Fortibus was derived from Fors, a commune of the canton of Prahecq, arrond. of Niort, dept. of Deux Sevres, in Poitu, as is evident from the following charter in the Register of Philip Augustus, at the Bibl. du Roi (the original is at the Tresor des Chartes). . . .[CP repeats the charter and notes that CP finds no indication of where Fortibus/Fors was derived].
