I'm looking for information on the wife [or wives] of Sir William Stanley of Holt, brother of the 1st Earl of Derby, who was executed in 1495 for involvement in the rebellion of Perkin Warbeck.
Pedigrees for Stanley in the Cheshire works of both Ormerod and Earwaker say that Sir William was married to Joyce Cherleton, widow of John, Lord Tiptoft, and daughter of Edward, 5th Lord Cherleton, feudal lord of Powys. However, the articles in CP (under Cherleton and Tiptoft) which cover Joyce's 1st marriage make no mention of a second marriage to Stanley. More recently, Faris' Plantagenet Ancestry (2nd ed.) also mentions only a single marriage of Joyce.
The CP article on Joyce's son, John Tiptoft, Earl of Worcester, says that he married (in his 3rd and her 2nd marriage) Elizabeth Hopton, widow of Sir Roger Corbet of Morton Corbet, and that Elizabeth subsequently married (as his 2nd wife) Sir William Stanley of Holt.
Who were the wives (or wife) of Sir William, and who was the mother of his children? Are both Ormerod and Earwaker wrong in missing the marriage to Elizabeth Hopton, or is this an omission in CP (which has no correction on this in vol. 14)? Does anyone have another source for the wife (or wives) of Sir William Stanley of Holt and the parentage of his children?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Note: I don't believe that the Joyce cited above, who was born before 1405 (year of her mother's death), would have married William Stanley, who had to be born 1436 or after. The sources that Higgins is citing probably got confused with William Stanley marrying the widow of Joyce's son John Tiptoft, who was Elizabeth Hopton.
