Granville Earl of Bath. - This ancient Norman family came over with William the Conqueror. Richard de Grenville, who married Isabel, daughter of Walter Giffard Earl of Buckingham, was common ancestor of the Grenvilles of Devonshire and Cornwall, and the Grenvilles of Buckinghamshire. The former were originally settled at Bideford, in Devonshire, and appear to have had a seat at Stowe, in the parish of Kilkhampton, from a very early period.

Text: stated that this Richard, was son of Hamon Dentatus & Elizabeth d'Avoye and came over with the Conqueror, but actually I believe that it was his father Richard who did that, and it was the father Richard who m. Elizabeth d'Avoye and was son of Hamon Dentatus.
