  • Note: John Butler of Rawcliffe Hall built the Butler Chapel of St Michael's-on-Wyre church in 1480. The History of Parliament states that John Boteler (c1384-c1455) had a son name John and a grandson named John (both of who were of age in 1450 when the signed as witnesses to a Parliamentary election). Yet William 'Guy' Fletcher on Rootsweb, db=allerton_manor, cites "History of Richmondshire" vol 2, and "History of Amunderness" (Butler pedigree), in stating that John's grandson was named Nicholas (the husband of Alice Radcliffe).
